A family vacation
WARNING THIS POST IS VERY VERY LONG!!!
Its been awhile since our blog was updated last. We haven't really had to much going on lately. Austyn is growing bigger and bigger everyday. I still work, unfortunately my hours did get cut a little. Hopefully soon I should expect them to come back. Alex is still attending school and taking care of Austyn. We have been feeling a little stressed out lately and decided that we needed something fun for us.
We are so lucky that we have such a wonderful family. Since Alex and I have been feeling a little stressed out we decided that it was finally time for a family vacation. We received our tax return money and decided that we would go to California on a vacation. Alex's sister and brother in law are stationed there, and they offered to let us stay there while we where there. It was so nice of them.
We decided that we would leave super early in the morning. We wanted to try and make it to California in one day. What a horrible idea that was. We left at 5:15 in the morning. We didn't make in more than a hour into the drive when it started to snow, and it didn't stop snowing until St. George. We finally made it to California around 7 o'clock their time. What a long drive. Thankfully my mom had a small dvd player and we entertained Austyn with that the whole way down there. I know if we didn't have it there would have been no way that we would of made it in one day.
DAY 1
The kids started off with a bath. It was of course somewhat of a chore to bathe 3 kids in a bath at the same time while trying to help prevent tears and screams. Luckily Sara was able to capture a somewhat good picture of all three kids in the bathtub.
Austyn was so cute. We decided the first day while we were in Cali that we would just take it easy and relax. Alex's sister Sara had some running around and Alex decided that we would join in. Inbetween all the running around we got lunch at Chick-Fil-A. Austyn recieved a book in her kids meal. What fast food place gives a little 17 month old a book about how the sun rises? Luckily Austyn loves reading and decided that she would read while we drove around.
DAY 2
Time for the beach. Austyn had never been to the beach before or even played in the sand. We decided that the weather was good enough for us to go. Unfortunately we forgot her swim suit back home so she had to play in her diaper. It was such good weather and so warm. We all had such a blast at the beach.
On our way to the beach.
Austyn and mommy walking out to the ocean for the first time.
Austyn had so much fun playing in the sand. We bought her some sand toys before we left home so she would have something fun to play with.
Of course you always have to write your name in the sand the first time you go to the beach.
Austyn and mommy by the water.
Of course you have to end a day at the beach with a very happy smile from a special little girl.
DAY 3
We were so happy to go to California. Alex's sister Sara and her husband get season passes to the zoo. When they buy their passes they get guest passes for two people to get into the San Diego Zoo. Along with the passes came passes for the San Diego Wild Animal Park. So we were able to get in for free. Unfortunately we didn't realize that you should always eat before you go to the zoo's in California. The food was so freaking expensive. I guess it's all in the part of having a vacation and spending money.

DAY 4
We decided while we were in California that we would try and take a couple of days and go to the beach. Alex's sister Sara had been very overwhelmed with two kids, laundry and work that we decided that it would be nice to try and take one of the kids to the beach and let her get some work done. It's always easier to have one kid. It was so much fun. Her little son Mason had so much fun. Until we had to try and clean the sand off of him. Austyn really didn't enjoy the beach this day. All she wanted to do was cry.
There where so many cute little beach shops around the beach so we decided that we would stop by and get the kids ice cream to see if that would cheer everyone up. By the end of the day the kids were so exhausted that they fell asleep on the way home. Later that night we found out why Austyn was so upset at the beach. She had a fever of 102 and was super cranky. Poor little Austyn Mae.
DAY 5
Alex and I decided that while we where down in Cali that we wanted to try and go to Sea World. Austyn woke up and the fever had broken, but all day she was a little cranky. Nothing that we couldn't handle. She still had so much fun at Sea World. No Shamu though, due to the miss happening in Florida. It was still so much fun.
We thought it was so funny that you could buy alcohol at an amusement park in California. Shows you how different Cali is from Utah. I had to have Alex pose with his Bud Light Lime.

Austyn touching her first star fish. The water was so cold.
DAY 6
Austyn had never had a hair cut as you can see below. We thought that while we were down in California that it would be a great time to get it done. There was this place called Toon Cuts that cut little kids hair. They had TV's with movies and toys. Austyn was so good during her first hair cut. She didn't cry at all, and didn't move at all. She is getting so big.

The after picture of Austyn's hair. The lady who cut her hair made it look so funny. She curled it under with a big poof. Luckily it looks good now.
Later that day we went to the mall. All Austyn wanted to do was cry. Thankfully aunt Sara had some quarters and Austyn and cousin Mason rode around on the merry go round. After the ride ended Austyn cried. This day was full of nothing but tears from Austyn Mae.
DAY 7
This day we decided to go to the zoo with Sarah and Zach. Of course Austyn was crying almost all the way through the zoo. We even tried to get Austyn a prize to see if that would help calm her down, nothing helped. It wasn't very fun going to the zoo with a screaming baby, but we tried to make the best of it.
Daddy with a smiling Austyn. There wasn't very many smiles from Austyn all day.

We enjoyed our vacation so much. Thanks so much Sara and Zach for letting us stay with you guys. I'm sure you guys are happy to get away from the constant crying and screaming. It was so fun to get a vacation and spend time with family. Fortunately when we came home we were able to get Austyn into the doctors. She has another ear infection in one ear, and the start of another in the other ear. She is getting better everyday.
Before we left we were trying to redo Austyn's bedroom. Pictures will soon come.

Sea World has a new part to it with the sesame street characters and some rides. The rides there have no height limit which was so fun for Austyn to be able to ride. She had so much fun. The first ride made me sick. So the second ride Alex went on with her. Shows you how old I am getting
